The lake freezes over during this season and the views are spectacular. The dam itself was completed in 1961 and is world famous because it&#8217;s one of the tallest gravity dams in the world, at 285 metres high. It holds up to 400 million cubic metres of water which created the Lac des Dix, known as the Lake of the Ten in English. You will visit the interior of the dam, and also learn about the environmental impact and the efforts made to preserve the local ecosystem.<\/p><p>Additionally, guided tours are available from nearby villages such as H\u00e9r\u00e9mence and Evol\u00e8ne. These tours often include transportation to the dam and lake, as well as guided walks around the area, offering historical and ecological insights. Be aware that the inside of the dam is a little chilly, so come prepared with a sweater to keep warm.<\/p><p>Other interesting points of interest at <b>Lac de Dix Switzerland<\/b> are the various viewpoints that provide the most stunning panoramic views of the mountains and water.
