What is the Jardin des Vins Sion?
The Sion Wine Garden Festival is an annual open-air wine-tasting event. It is organised by the Association des Encaveurs de Sion. This amazing weekend-long festival is held at the picturesque Domaine des Îles and brings together 16 local wine producers. In our opinion, this is your best opportunity to sample and learn about different wines from the region and even purchase some on-site.
Although the main attraction is wine, this is a family-friendly event that provides free games for kids, a food court and plenty of picnic areas. This is a must-see cultural event in the area and the perfect way to learn about Swiss culture and traditions.

Featured wineries and wines that you can taste
The Sion Wine Garden is a well-known and distinguished open-air wine festival that brings together 16 wineries from the Sion region. Each winery is highly esteemed, and this is a great opportunity for visitors to sample and purchase these wines.
Participating wineries
Château Constellation is a renowned winery for its iconic Fendant and Petite Arvine. It is perhaps one of the region’s most popular and well-known wines.
Les Celliers de Sion is a notable collaboration between Bonvin and Varone estates. They have a unique way of producing wine that mixes the best characteristics of Sion’s vineyards.
Provins is Switzerland’s largest wine producer. They are at this year’s event with a variety of wines for you to try.
Our suggestions for types of wines to explore
We recommend taking the time to explore as many of the local wines as possible during your visit. We recommend starting with crisp, aromatic whites like Fendant, Petite Arvine, and Heida (this is a classic Valais varietals that you must-try). For something bolder, try the richer reds such as Cornalin, Humagne Rouge, and Syrah. And don’t miss the rosés and sparkling wines which are light, refreshing, and ideal for sipping lakeside or pairing with local snacks.
Don’t forget that all attendees can benefit from a 10% discount on all wines compared to standard cellar prices if purchased at the Sion Wine Garden Festival.
Activities and experiences within the festival
The Jardin des Vins Sion has many activities and experiences planned for the three day event throughout the festival grounds. Different sections are dedicated to specific wines and activities, so you’ll never run out of things to see and try.
The main event is the wine tasting of over 220 wines from 16 local wineries. You can chat with local staff and winemakers who will guide you through the tasting and winemaking process. After trying some local wine, why not explore the Valais cuisine? The Espace Gourmand is specifically dedicated to offering several dining areas with plenty of lounging and picnic spaces. Try raclette, charcuterie and other local speciality cheeses while you sip on your glass of local wine.
Families can also enjoy the free children’s area, including games and play zones. In the evening, the atmosphere comes to life with DJ sets and lounge music on Friday and Saturday nights.
